I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Best practice is to not need help. Know how to stay warm, well fed, hydrated, and navigate in the wilderness. Be as self sufficient as you can. Take plenty of food and store it properly in bear resistant container(s). Also talk to your medical insurance and be sure that if you do get hurt and need to be taken out that the insurance will cover your medical services rendered by the EMTs that arrive with the helicopter.
In California (and most of the US) you aren't charged for helicopter evacuations. You ARE charged for medical services rendered if it's needed.

I’ve used satelite phone and InReach on my solo adventures. I bought an InReach a couple of years ago because I like the ability to use casual text, GPS tracking, and SOS (with two way communication if needed). Satelite phone was expensive, heavy, and not as reliable...and it can’t tell anyone where you are.

For lowest upfront cost, no annual subscription, reliability, purely rescue purposes, but no 2-way comms, the ACR ResQLink+ is the way to go.
