I recently went on a "lazy" backpacking trip in Desolation Wilderness. My wife and I hiked 4 miles in from the Twin Lake trailhead and set up camp near Island Lake. The next day we went on a ~4 mile day hike to find a nice view of Lake Aloha. The 3rd day we hiked 4 miles back to the car. Hiking only 12 miles over three days allowed us a lot of time to enjoy the scenery and relax. It was really great. I'd advise anyone who hasn't done a low mileage trip to give it a shot!
The Twin Lakes area in Desolation was more beautiful than we expected. I'd recommend it for anyone who enjoys camping near alpine lakes. Here is a full report I wrote with all my pictures, maps, etc. https://backpackersreview.wordpress.com ... win-lakes/
Great TR and pictures!!
Could you please add the dates, thanks.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.
