Discussion about winter adventure sports in the Sierra Nevada mountains including but not limited to; winter backpacking and camping, mountaineering, downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, etc.
Spent last weekend at Tamarack Lodge with my wife. Snow was pretty thin, but enough to get off trail and do a hike up to Mcleod Lake and up to Emerald Lakes. No snow at all at the Rock Creek Sno-park. As we drove into mammoth, it seemed like it was going to be a hiking weekend, but as you gained elevation the snow improved. Less than a foot at Lake Marry Rd, 1' to 2' at the trail heads and up. the Higher you got the was more snow, but not more than a 2'. As you can see, the coverage off trail was good, and not many tracks.
Here are a few pics.
