pretty impressive to control both houses of congress and the oval office and STILL interfere with my summer permit grabs---recreation.gov is down

Re: government shutdown
You do realize that cloture takes 60 votes, which means that Rs AND Ds would have to vote for it.

Re: government shutdown
Without getting political, the vote to pass the spending bill failed on about as close a party line vote as possible.robow8 wrote:You do realize that cloture takes 60 votes, which means that Rs AND Ds would have to vote for it.

Re: government shutdown
of course, 60 votes needed, and it wasn't exactly party lines, they got some dems---5 D yes's and 5 R no's. still impressive.
aaaaaaaanyway i was just mildly surprised to see recreation.gov down, especially after the talk of national parks staying open etc etc. you'd think they would want to keep open the revenue-generating things, but what do i know.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Re: government shutdown
The parks are closed, mostly. Services and restrooms all locked up tight. No one in the gates to take fees. If you call 911 in Yosemite a response might be delayed, but you'll get one...

Re: government shutdown
I am in the desert right now. The BLM LTVA areas are still open with no gov services provided. No one forced to leave. Contracted services still provided.
No significant impact yet.
