Another reason for being thankful on thanksgiving
Fishing with daughter, son in law and grandson netted 4 yellowtail, 15 bonito in the morning. In the afternoon a traditional thanksgiving dinner with lobster and turkey as the main course.

Nice size tuna Mike, makes for a lot of Tekka Maki and some nice rare steaks.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Not a tuna! But still a fine eating fish, not to mention tough to bring in. Hooked another with about 150 yards of line out. I fought it for about 10 minutes, my daughter a few more, then my son in law finished the job.maverick wrote:Nice size tuna Mike, makes for a lot of Tekka Maki and some nice rare steaks.

Re: Another reason for being thankful on thanksgiving
What great fishing for some of my favorite fish to eat. I wish those ranged as far north as the Bay Area. My only experience fishing for them was in 1969 as a kid when I went on a boat out of San Diego with my parents, bro, and cousins. I remember it was sort of a spur of the moment thing which hadn't been part of our vacation plan, but it was remembered ever after as the highlight of that vacation.
Since my fishing (etc.) website is still down, you can be distracted by geology stuff at: http://www.fresnostate.edu/csm/ees/facu ... ayshi.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hey Mike, I for one, am not afraid to publish my ignorance, so what species is that very "tuna-like" fish? It's not a "Dorado" is it? I make that wild stab because it looks like you all are south of the border- ¿tal vez "Bahía de Los Ángeles?"
Sounds like you had a great trip.

I'm guessing a Jack or one of the Amberjack subspecies.

Tahoe Jeff and Russ are both right. Yellowtail is a kind of amberjack.
