Labeled Panoramas

There is a growing gallery of labeled panoramas by several contributors from and of 30 Sierra locations on Summit Post: http://www.summitpost.org/labeled-sierr ... s/p-841725. These are Hi Def pix of up to almost 8 Mbytes...and they are DOWNLOADABLE in full definition. I'm particularly proud of my "Labeled Mount Whitney Panorama", the labeling phase for which took about 6 months. This image from the Summit Post gallery can be displayed by I-Phone while surveying the scene from the top of the Mountain! My website is www.panoramapaul.com.

Have always enjoyed identifying distant peaks in my photos, and sometimes annotating them for web usage which often takes careful topo detective work. And in this era, Google Earth makes that much easier.



When I was up in the bristlecone forest a few weeks ago, I also did two wide stitch blended panoramas of the Sierra Nevada on one clear morning. Except mine are much more detailed than your downsized online versions of course, from my A6000 with a SEL55210 set at 159mm. A 4.8% downsized to 952 pixels full frame of one 9 vertical frame 20000 pixel wide stitch is above. Also on this web page:

The below is a 67% downsized 1500 pixel crop of the Palisade Crest from the full 20000 pixel wide image that in the above is at frame edge left showing the considerable detail. And note the foreground sagebrush and bristlecone pine are just as sharp since I focus stack blended each frame.

Very cool! The Caltopo simulated view can be helpful (for example, here's Whitney looking west: https://caltopo.com/view#ll=36.5785,-11 ... .43,-88.33 ), but it is often a bit hard to follow—maybe my computer doesn't show it quite right.
