I had planned a trip to Bearpaw High Sierra Camp with my Dad, Brother, and his kids. My nephew got the flu and could not come, but the rest of us headed up Saturday and started hiking early Sunday (7/9) morning. We started very early and the creek crossing were very mellow. Tail end of Mehrten Creek:
Got there nice and early and I headed down towards Readwood Meadow/Middle Fork to fish. I wandered around a bit but couldn't find any place really calm enough to fish (and I was getting beaten up by the bugs:):
Monday morning I woke up early and tried to "run" up to Elizabeth Pass. I didn't get close; I needed to give myself a lot more time.
Cool looking snow over Lone Pine Creek? (Tamarack outlet):
(I think) Looking up toward Tamarack from about halfway up to Elizabeth:
Hiked up to Hamilton and fished for a bit the next day
Niece on the trail to Hamilton:
Hamilton:
Niece caught a couple rainbows:
Snow over lower Hamilton:
Headed back to Crescent Meadow early the next morning:

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Re: TR: Crescent Meadow - Hamilton Lakes
And, definitely a bit of smoke up there to "season" the bugs, no! But, I love the waterfalls into Hamilton at this time of year. What a great intro to the Sierra for your niece; thanks for the TR.
