Kaiser Pass Road Updates

Post by maverick »

USFS Sierra NF:
High Sierra Ranger District -5/30 The affects of this past winter's snow will be with us a little longer. Kaiser Pass Rd remains under a considerable amount of snow. Southern California Edison (SCE) has been plowing daily to open the road. The furthest they have been able to plow is .25 miles below the crest/White Bark Vista turn off. Below are photos taken this past weekend of Kaiser Pass road and the trail head rest rooms at Potter Pass.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Update 6/7

Post by maverick »

Sierra NF:
This photo shows the current conditions on the Kaiser Pass Rd as of June 1st.
Higher than average snowfall this past winter is delaying the opening to the high country. Crews are working daily to open this area to the public.
There is no definitive date for the opening. We are hopeful that the road will be open soon.

And that's fine, but you should probably change the topic title since the photo was taken in June.
