That's totally cool - great job.
You might consider doing a write up on the peak in the HST database. There's a forum category for passes; perhaps Eric would place it there:

Thanks all of you. I wrote a letter to the Fresno Bee offering an article about this. I haven't heard back yet.

Nicely done. I sent a note to Gene Rose giving him the heads up as well.

Re: Orland Bartholomew's 1929 High Odyssey
So m trying to figure out where this newly named peak is but the coordinates in that letter do not correlate to an unnamed peak at 8,916 in elevation and those coordinates are not 2.3 miles SE of Huntington Lake. What I find on Caltopo, and again maybe I am doing something incorrectly, is a location just SW of Swamp Lake near an unnamed peak which appears to be ~9,700' and about 9.29 miles SE of Huntington Lake. Anyone else ending up at the same conclusion?

Change Caltopo to coordinate system degrees, minutes, seconds. The peak is on the S/E side of Mirror Lake marked 8916.
If you don't know where you're going, then any path will get you there.

BTW, if you want to buy the book (and it's worth it), don't pay high prices on Amazon or at various used sellers (some listings are over $100 used!). The good folks at the Central Sierra Historical Society sell new ones they get directly from Gene for $16. They have various other books that may be of interest to history buffs too. http://www.sierrahistorical.org/shop/
