Pretty place, but did not mention it due to the OP concerns about elevation, most of HB is above 11,000 ft.You could also look at Mono Pass over into Humphrey's Basin---lots of fun things to see and do there.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Agnew Meadow has three different trails to enter by, Shadow Lake Trail, River Trail and the High Trail, that all leads into Thousand Island Lakes. If only two of you backpacking, you have a good chance of using one of these trailheads. My opinion, the River Trail is the worst, due to horse use, very dusty and you will be in the valley. Very awesome place to go.

This is true, it is the least scenic of the three routes, but also the easiest too.My opinion, the River Trail is the worst, due to horse use, very dusty and you will be in the valley.

Off hwy 395 between Bishop and Mammoth Lakes. Hike up Rock Creek. It's absolutly gorgeous and easy hiking. Everbody I've sent there believed it to the best easy place in the Sierra. For me I'm sure of it.
