Fishing Companion
I have recently located to NorCal after spending the last 6 years in Nepal working in the adventure tourism industry. I am an experienced multi day backpacker and an avid trout fly fisher. I am planning to spend as much time as possible exploring the Sierras this summer and would like to find a companion or group to join up with. My preference would be to fish and hike in more remote areas but I am open to a fixed BC and day hike to different water. Please email me if you you are interested or can offer any advise. Ian

Hi Ian,
Welcome to HST! Hope you find someone, if not, we have a HST Meet-up in July, in the backcountry of Yosemite, on which you could hit numerous lakes: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=13655
By the way, we would really enjoy some TR's of your adventures in Nepal, in our "Beyond the Sierra Nevada" section at the bottom of the forum page.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

You can go to meetup.com and search for a local group.

Re: Fishing Companion
I have one more spot on my permit for that HST meetup (total 3 people on my permit, plus a couple shadowing us maybe at a different pace). Would love to hear your stories about Nepal on the trail. However, we are peakbagging a little bit along the way, so if not interested in that, maybe not too fun for you to go with us (?). But I think you'd probably meet people interested in fishing at the meetup. This is a 6-7 day backpack trip (with peaks) from Silver Lake (Rush Creek Trail). First night at Marie Lakes. Private message me if interested.
And I second dave54's suggestion about Meetup.com. I've had a lot of success finding like-minded outdoors people there. Have made a lot of wonderful new friends through different groups. Also, this forum has worked great for me as well. In the past, I've just decided on a place I want to go and posted here for interested partners.
