So markskor and I are planning 16 days in the Kern area. Pushing 70 neither of us feel up to starting out of Horseshoe Meadow or Cottonwood Creek with enough food and fuel for that length of trip. I had thought that the guide service out of Bishop could provide a backpacker resupply but they don't do that any more (said they could last year) Does anyone know of a legal source of a resupply to the top of Shepard Pass other than a pack station that would cost over $600 dollars? Don't even know if horses/mules could get by the washout, anyway. Oh we are talking about 30 lbs of food plus a fuel canister then relieving us of a fuel canister and trash.
Thanks

What would be the date for this Mike?

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Re: Need resupply
Check with Kurt Wedberg's guide service in Bishop. He has some young studs who could haul to at least Pot Holes, maybe the pass, and be back down in a day. I recall his one-person daily rate to be about $200-300. Perhaps less. Their availability could be dependent on how busy they are with climbing clients.

Saturday July 29, need to drop off 12th, 13th or 14th.
Daisy,
That is who I tried. But the woman answering the phone said their permit wouldn't allow it.

Mike,
Give Wilson's Eastside Sports in Bishop a try around the middle of June, they have folks leave fliers there with contact numbers offering to do resupplies up the major passes. 760-873-7520
