When Will Tioga Road Open?

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Park road crews have been plowing the Tioga Road since April 18. Crews have plowed one lane to Tenaya Lake, however, there is still no estimated opening date. Crews still need to plow the full width of the road, as well as side roads. Safety considerations (e.g., avalanche zones, icy road conditions), additional road work, hazard tree removal, continuing snowy weather, and very dense snow are all factors affecting when the road might open.
We will update this page if or when the road partially opens to cyclists before it opens to vehicles.

NOAA claims on their facebook feed that 8-18" of snow is expected in the next week or so. Wonder if that will happen and how long it will stick.

Mono County and National Park Service road plowing crews have met just east of Tenaya Lake. However, park staff still has a lot of work to do before the road can open, including clearing fallen trees and rocks, removing hazard trees, plowing side roads, and plowing the full width of the Tioga Road. There is still no estimated opening date.
We will update this page if or when the road partially opens to cyclists before it opens to vehicles.

I am planning on doing a short 2 night trip to Glen Aulin with my cousins on memorial day. For some of them it will be their first time backpacking in the sierra, I hope the road is open by then!

I hope they like wading... There is a section of that route that is flooded in high melt.
