DBK amputee British veteran 29/30-10 October, camping at lodgepole from 27 for up to a week depending on the weather but hoping to start the HST on or before the 01/10/25. Aiming to complete the trail in 6/7 days. No point in rushing if the cafe is closed at Whitney portal as I think I will have earn't a burger and several beers.
I will be 69 , Mt Whitney is the last of the five highest mountains in the 48 states for me to summit a first for a DBK.
Mt Elbert took a day in 2019. As did Mt Blanc in Europe in 1993.
If you don't mind me growling at myself when struggling on the steep bits, anyone would be welcome. Particularly if you could carry some rations for me.
As a DBK I use up to 3.8 times the energy you guys do. More than 4000 cal a day. I can't carry that much food, so aim to carry 1500 plus treats and strong sweet coffee. So even if we're not partnering any food you can spare I'll eat when I pass you 😄 on the trail. Tigger
