SEKI: North Fork Kaweah and Hidden Springs Road

Post by Lenier »

I've been curious about Hidden Springs road/trail aka North Fork Kaweah Trail for some time now. I've gone pretty far up, but usually turned around a few miles passed Burnt Creek. Does anyone here have any experience, info, or know of trip reports on this trail? Thanks in advance.

First off, no, I've never been anywhere near that particular trail.

Checking CalTopo (and turning on the "fire history" layer), it looks like almost that entire trail is within the burn scar from the KNP Complex fire. That area looks pretty desolate looking down on it from the Generals Highway; you might find some little oases of pleasantness here and there, but seems like you would find enjoyment of it to be somewhat challenging.

But if you do go, we'd love to hear about it.

The whole area has grown back far quicker than I expected, and I personally don't mind witnessing the terrain as it regrows. It's a natural part of the terrain here. I will certainly share photos here once I go :)
