High Sierra Topix

Not sure if I'm allowed to post this as a newbie, but I've been hosting a series of ongoing first Thursday backpacker (and hiker) meetups at Fieldwork Brewing in Berkeley from 6-8 PM. I've hosted four events thus far, and we've had a fantastic turnout at each - typically 20-25 people. I'm also hosting a third Saturdays (fourth this month) hike in the East Bay, and we're doing a Pt. Reyes backpacking trip on the 20th. The goal here is to give backpackers and hikers a chance to mix, mingle, and suss each other out for potential Sierra trips.

I've been posting my events on the norcalhiking subreddit, but I figured I'd reach out to this forum to see if anyone would like to join. We have a group hike coming up on the 28th, then our next Fieldwork meetup will be on the 2nd. All and sundry are welcome to join, thanks!

This sounds like a good opportunity (except WAY too far from my SoCal home). But thanks for putting it out there, and hope somebody more local to you finds it to their liking.

Have a meetups account but never did any backpacks, just local SF Bay Area hikes. Might join you folks in Berkeley some time during spring.

Thanks! They've gone surprisingly well thus far, and our first backpacking trip in Pt. Reyes last weekend was a very moist success. I'll skip the meetup in January due to NY, but February onward is on. I'll post here about it.

Also, we're doing a meetup hike on Saturday if anyone needs to burn off some ganache - again, if I'm breaking any HST rules by posting this stuff here, let me know!
