R02/R03 TR: A new thru-hike in the Sierra Sept/Oct 2024

I've previously posted here (viewtopic) about a new long distance route in the Sierra that I'm pioneering. It's 200 miles and goes from Glacier Point Road in Yosemite to Onion Valley Campground near Independence. The unique feature of this route is that it follows an expedition John Muir took in 1873.

In Sept/Oct I completed the first continuous thru-hike of this route. I had a companion and we spent 30 days on the route. We had friends drive up to resupply us at several points.

We faced several challenges: an unusual heat wave, wildfire smoke, and some stretches of heinous bushwhacking. Overall it was really fun. The route visits numerous remote, obscure, and very beautiful locations. It guarantees solitude; during the first three weeks we saw only one other group of backpackers.

I have completed a draft of a guidebook to the route and am currently seeking a publisher. (Any suggestions?)

View photo highlights from the thru-hike.
Learn more about the route and download a preview of the guidebook.

peace out, y'all.

Reminds me of the Theodore Solomon Trail.
