Marion Pass?

There is a saddle east of Marion Peak which is marked on the HST map as Marion Pass, class 2. I have searched HST and elsewhere, and have found no other reference to it. Has anybody been over that saddle or close to it?

Hey Paul,

I just searched for any photos of Marion Pass from my late June trip this summer. I had intended to cross Marion Pass, but instead, we went over the usual Cartridge Pass. No good pictures of it, sorry. I didn't really research it, just saw the "class 2" and figured it would be straight forward. When I glassed it from the big lake below Cartridge, the east side looked easy enough, though perhaps long on talus. What have you got planned Paul?

Ian - I am planning to wander around the monarch divide and cirque crest. Hoping to hop over the crest from the head of the south fork of Cartridge creek to get to the lakes just east of State peak, then work over to the lakes just south of Marion Peak, and from there over Marion pass. Looks doable as far as slope, but I can't tell how loose it may be. I did find a TR after I posted, by way of a search for images of Marion peak. Oddly enough that TR, here on HST, did not come up when I searched the site for Marion Pass. Those folks went up to the pass from Marion lake, but not down the south side; they walked the crest east from the pass. No photos in that report showing the south side. So I feel good about getting down on the north side, but still wondering if the south side is a nightmare to gdt up. I have sent a PM but no reply yet.
