Sierra and Southern Sierra High Route August

A forum to initiate member meet-up. Looking for a hiking/climbing/fishing/skiing/etc. partner, or are you planning a trip where you wouldn't mind having some company? Last minute invites can be just as fun as a well-planned group trip (sometimes even better) so don't be shy! And be sure to post a trip report to the appropriate forum when you get back.

Sierra and Southern Sierra High Route August

Post by pcoo490 »

Seeking partners for whole or sections of the Sierra and Southern Sierra High Routes starting around Aug. 5 until first week of Sept unless finished in august. I will be driving down from WA state with my car which I plan on using as my tent and resupply when passing through road access points for resupply and shelter if extra day needed to recover the feet. So the plan is to hitchhike one direction and then shuttle the car to an end or start point at each section. Then I can easily drive back to WA state when its over. I am 50 with tons of backpack experience and mountaineering in the PacNW. I am not super fast and would enjoy more a reasonably moderate pace but am also not slow. So am expecting about an average # of days in total plus zero days.

I would enjoy a hiking companion for at least some sections due to the higher risk nature of solo travel on this challenging terrain we will be passing through. I am accustomed to solo backpacking. I am not dead set on a full one direction thru hike but mostly interested in covering all sections during the month that I have. The initial plan is to help acclimate by starting at the north end on a shorter segment between Twin lakes and Toulumne Meadows. If you also have a car this would be super helpful as we could stage transport and extra rations at each section start/end. We can coordinate the section you desire doing together once I know your available dates.

Hello. Not sure if you saw my "partner wanted" post. My permit doesn't start until 8/23 and I plan to hike red's meadow to tuolome then on to twin lakes. I find south to north is more doable because Ropers book is much more detailed in that direction. If any of this could work with your plans, let me know and we can discuss it more.
