Advice for Old Pup 7/7-7/13

Hi There,
I thought I'd add to the recent pup posts by asking for some input on an upcoming trip. I usually backpack more in the Eastern/Central Sierra, but looking for somewhere I haven't been yet, and taking my older dog along for the hike. I've been staring at maps, reading through recent and older posts as always, but thought I might ask some opinions considering the timing and current conditions. I'm thinking it might be nice to do two - three nighters vs one longer trip, especially to see how the old girl will do. We will top out around 5 miles a day, maybe less, and would probably like to keep it simple/easy as far as maybe one or two camps per trip, and day hiking around from there. We regularly do five+ miles with no problem in Sonoma county, but don't want to push it in heat/elevation. Not too worried about snow, but of course big/tough crossings would be a problem. Looking to fish, avoid the worst of the mosquitoes, and get as much scenery as possible. I've been eyeing Kaiser and Dinkey, maybe further north. I'm scared of the mosquitoes in Emigrant, and it's looking like it's going to be really hot in some areas. Saw the recent report on the Ebbetts pass area, looked potentially interesting for a couple nights. Trying to, as much as possible, avoid crowds - hints the Sunday start. I'm open to about anywhere, but not too far south. I'm fine with cross country, but don't want to do anything too rough, exposed, or with lots of elevation gain. It's looking like mosquito timing is terrible, but this will be my only week off until November, so want to make the most of it.
Thanks in advance!!
