Beta on Lyell Fork Merced down canyon from High Trail?

First time poster. I'm planning a lengthy trip this September, which will include in part some exploration of the the Lyell Fork of the Merced. I've found some great reports here on trips around the headwaters of the Fork and more generally the areas upstream from the High Trial. I was wondering if anyone has tried to follow the Fork down canyon, from where it crosses the High Trial, to where it meets the trail south of Washburn Lake? It looks pretty harsh and maybe some bushwhacking, but probably easier (if doable at all) late season with lower water. Any beta would be much appreciated.
Background on me: I have significant XC experience, although the majority of it in canyon country. For this trip, I'll have a heavy pack and will want to avoid any prolonged stretches on anything class 3 or higher.
