A book about a Sierra Nevada ski trip in 1929 (I think)

I read a book several years ago on the recommendation of someone on this forum. The book was about a guy who did a cross country skiing trip in the Sierra in 1929 (I think that was the year). As I remember, the guy went from somewhere in (or near) the Sequoia NP area toward the Mammoth area, and in the prior season, he had stashed food caches along his planned route. It was really interesting, but now I cannot recall the title of the book. I thought I had borrowed it via inter-library loan, but my record on the library website doesn't list the book. Does my description of this book sound familiar to anyone?

Probably "High Odyssey" by Gene Rose. I ordered mine a couple of years ago directly from the
Central Sierra Historical Society. Back then it was $20, now they appear to be requesting an arbitrary donation. Whatever you do, don't order it from Amazon.

Yes! Orlando Bartholomew, High Odyssey. And there’s a multi-page thread on HST about this book. Just couldn’t remeber enough to make a search. Many thanks!

LOL, I had to look to figure it out. My copy is buried in the bottom of a box somewhere, perhaps collecting interest.

Hi Bishop_Bob,
Below is a link to the Sierra Museum, where this book may still be available for a lot less. However, if not, I'd be willing to part with my copy for less than the exorbitant price above..... how about $799.00?
Just kidding. We can share my copy; send me your address and I'll post it to you for a beer. Are you living in Bishop? Cheers, Ian.

My copy of "High Odyssey", purchased about 40 years ago, has a price on the back of the dust cover: $5.99.
Gee, I should have bought several as an investment - looks like it returns better than 100 to 1.
