Transportation options

So our trip at the end of July hit a snag. My brother was going to pick us up at the Fresno airport and give us the ride up to courtright. Well he is out. So we can rent a car…about $550, which is a drag since we will use it for 4 hours. But I was wondering if there are any cheaper options in the area. I know Florence and Edison have a shuttle but is there anything that heads you the Wishon/ Courtright area?

Not sure if this would actually work, but you could try reserving a Lyft ride in advance.
Check this link to see what you might be charged, assuming a driver would take you up on it:
https://lyft.com/rider/fare-estimate
… the number seems too low, so I assume they would at least double it, based on one-way trip mileage.

When I used the Lyft estimate, I saw a range of about $90-110. Agree that it seems low given the probable need to come all the way back out.

Depending on how much you're willing to spend, I could see a Fresno local being willing to shuttle you up there for about $200. There isn't a dedicated company that I know of that does customized shuttles, but I see that the VVR hiker van shuttle charges $215 base (including 2 hikers) or $85/pp for up to 5 people. I'm sure if you reached out to them there's a chance they'd be willing to drop you at Wishon or Courtright for an additional fee.

Yeah I wish I still lived in the area. Pay some high school kid $40/hour to drive and we’d still save a couple hundred bucks. The only fear I have about using something like Lyft/Uber is they need to be there when we come out a week later.

And you need to be there too. Always an issue with shuttles. I don't know what your timing is like, but I might try hitching back towards Fresno. Seems like a fellow hiker might give you a ride.

Goodness Balzaccom after a week in the backcountry I wouldn’t pick me up 😂. But that would be my luck— tell the driver to pick us up at 2, and then get to trailhead at 2:10 only to find out he left.
