High Sierra Topix

Hi All,
I'm looking for more information about Sakai Col. I've read Secor's description, and looked at (the few) photos I can find online, but I'm unsure which chute is the pass. Anybody have more info they could share?

More broadly, I'm planning to hike a section of the Southern Sierra High Route. I'll be linking Whitney Mountaineers Route with Russell-Carillon Col. Rather than descend all the way to Lower Boy Scout Lake, I'm looking for alternate routes to travel from Iceberg Lake to the R-C Col. My limited research makes me think there's a way to travel from Iceberg >> Whitney-Russell Pass >> Sakai >> R-C Col. What do you think?

from iceburg you could go up whitney Russell col to sakai over to I think rockwell variation to russell carillon col! I dont think it would be any fun! which direction you going? north to south? If so I would go Russell carillon col down the nice sandy stuff to upper boy scout to iceburg. other way then you get the nice sandy on way up!

Thanks @Gazelle and @maverick for the notes -- I will be ascending Whitney via the Discovery Pinnacle side, then descending the Whitney Mountaineers Route, and then ascending Russ-Carri Col to continue north on the Southern Sierra High Route (SoSHR). I was thinking that taking the Whit-Russ Col + Sakai Col + the Rockwell Variation would be faster than descending all the way to Lower Boy Scout Lake and then climbing that dreadful sand hill of the R-C Col. What do you think?

You only have to go to upper boy scout, then up to the col. I would take that over w/r col, sakai, rockwell personally, at least you kind of have a trail through the loose/ sandy stuff!
