High Sierra Topix

Hello my friends,
I have been reading all of the posts about conditions now. I will be going out on a 5 day trip and would love to get to snowy conditions since I do not want mosquitos, dangerous creeks or lots of people. Also, I am not ready to say goodbye to spring yet. It would be fun to get to use my crampons one more time. I can hike about 7 hard climbing miles a day or 10 if relatively easy conditions.
That said, the majority of posts have suggested SEKI or YOSEMITE at this time. However, that would mean leaving my dog behind, which I have never done and really do not want to do.
Suggestions? Is it worth it to leave her behind to go to SEKI or Yosemite?

My goal is to, one day, be able to post trip reports as nice as Harlan’s and be so knowledgeable that I can give great advice like Wandering Daisy!

The snow along the crest of the range is pretty functional north of Bishop. The thickest snowpack is probably around Mammoth & Sonora Pass, which are both National Forest areas.

The Ritter Range is a great spot, A+ scenery, and the snowpack is still good there. It's a bit of a hump to get there from Rush Creek, but not that bad.

I've been out in the snow over the past several weekends - Sawmill Pass area, Bishop Area, etc. Postholing was quite miserable at times. Might be a good idea to mentally prepare for that eventuality if you plan on traveling the high country. Melting out fast, though.
