Has anyone heard a more exact date for Sierra National Forest opening up wilderness permit reservations on recreation.gov?

Their website has listed "March 2021" for several months now:
https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/sierra/p ... ev7_018115

...and here we are in March, still no Sierra NF permits on recreation.gov:
https://www.recreation.gov/search?q=Sie ... ea&start=0

Maybe I'm just being impatient :)

According to the page in the link above, March 9 is the date that "permits go on-sale for dates 6 months in advance."

Just grabbed a Labor Day permit out of Courtright. I had the same permit last year but bailed at the last second because I was worried about the fire conditions. The Creek Fire started on the first day of my planned trip so that was a good call. Hoping the area is spared this season.

The permits seemed wide open by the way. I think until things work themselves out I'd recommend hitting up some of the less popular parts of the Sierra. Places like the Hoover Wilderness instead of Thousand Island Lake etc.

I had no problem snagging a permit for Woodchuck Country this morning. Apparently it wasn't on a lot of people's radar.
