High Sierra Topix

Looking to visit both these lakes. Any suggestion on routes? Thanks.

There are a lot of routes to Hyatt Lake. We've gone in via Bourland Creek---a very easy route if you can cross the West Fork of Cherry Creek, until you get over the second ridge...from there you contour around to a spot just below Hyatt lake...and then you have to make sure that you keep going up across the creek and then to Hyatt. Following the creek itself to the West end of Hyatt leads to madness.

You can also go in via Chain lakes, then in from the Northwest. And I know people who have taken the use trail to Resasco lake, and then followed the creek down to Hyatt.

From the Northeast corner of Hyatt, you should be able to xc over to Big Lake, going up the drainage and then across the granite. Don't bother looking for the trail across the granite--just head East and don't get too far down into the canyon,

I think I've heard there is an area of wind fallen trees that make it difficult getting to one or the other of these lakes. Anyone have info on this?

Also, how hard is it to take the route over Rosaco Lake to Pingree? We do a lot of crosscountry in the higher Sierra, and have good navigation skills. But since we are having our packs dropped off at Pingree, it would be pretty essential that we were able to find Pingree from Rosaco.

We hiked X-country from Rosasco to Pingree in 2011 & it was easy. If you're good with map & compass, you won't have any problems getting to Pingree.
