I will be heading out on a 4 day round trip from Onion Valley in August. I am considering spending my last night at Bullfrog Lake. I have read some conflicting reports about whether camping is allowed there.
Can anyone confirm of deny if camping is allowed at Bullfrog Lake?

I was just there Sunday and I saw some hikers camping just outside the 'no camping sign'. There are established spots as you descend into the lake basin before where it clearly states there is no camping allowed.
You'll find a good spot in that general area. Good luck and have a good trip!

No camping allowed at Bull Frog Lake as per previous 2 posts.
Kearsarge Lakes are very close nearby, I love camping at these lakes, pretty good fishing, and the Kearsarge Pinnacles are great to stare at as the sun goes down.
If you have never camped there before, I highly recommend it. Some might say they are heavily visited, but the area can disperse campers around the various lakes so you don't feel crowded.

No camping within a 1/4 mile of Bullfrog Lake. Two night camping limit at Charlotte and Kearsarge Lakes and along the John Muir Trail from Woods Creek Crossing to Vidette Meadow.

Have also seen a map for the Kearsarge permit that show the 1/4 mile boundary however these government websites tend to be annoying in that year to year they are continually changing as they change or improve breaking all their previous links making difficult finding things. Note with a 7.5' topo one can easily carefully draw that line so it is a full 1/4 mile from any edge of the lake. I did that in 2014 when I camped up the creek towards Kearsarge Lakes. Also easy to do on Goggle Earth using the Ruler Tool. And note that is 1320 feet that is quite a distance so one cannot get anywhere close to the lake though that is less than a 10 minute walk.
