This is how to pass the time on a trip mid/late Sept. 2006 and cowboy camping at Evelyn near the big tree on the NE area.

Well that looks like a bunch of fun and good memories. But, what's this thing "cold" you speak of?? :D

Water bottles froze.. It was cold. As that was my pad we were playing on, I was the last in the bag. What might not be understood is that my group fishes until the rod guides freeze. We have rain suits and fish if it rains; even if it thunders. Nary a tent for decades unless it was a Memorial day trip.

Ahh, we've come so far.. :)

Well you're a stronger man than me; I always sleep cold. Usually in a bivy sack, small pad and sleeping bag that should have been replaced ten years ago - so I choose my nights out carefully. One of the few occasions I used a tent was at East Lake. At the time I naively chose the wrong spot to set up camp, with the cold wind blowing across the lake right at me. Everything iced over by the middle o the night, so rather than freeze I just got up, broke camp and started hiking.

I imagine your crew catches many more fish given the disciple to stay out as others have whimpered back to camp.

It is always an admirable act to introduce someone to backpacking. More power to you.

guess who is carrying the tent :) Figure it is only fair since I'm loaning him my old pack, sleeping bag, sleeping pad. Still have to figure out if he has boots, but he has complete access to my lure collection. Yes there will be a pre-trip meeting to go over logistics, etc. Almost exciting. And then he has to learn pai gow. :D
