This weekend was perfect weather for climbing Lassen Peak. Sunny, temps in the 50s, no wind, blue skies. About a year ago, I attempted the summit but had to retreat about 400 feet from the summit due to high winds. This year made another attempt, but my partner was having issues with the altitude and we descended about halfway.
We hiked in along the road, over Diamond Peak, and again on the road to Lake Helen, where we camped and enjoyed a fantastic sunset. Started our bid for the summit at 4am, and watched the sun rise over the horizon while the moon was still out. Enjoy the photos.
