My 14 year old son and I are hiking south from the Rush Creek TH in early August and have a few days to get to Red's Meadow as we adjust to altitude, etc. As we meander along, I think it might be interesting to get off the JMT and stay a night at Emily or Castle Lake. Has anyone visited these lakes and have thoughts about whether they are crowded, have sufficient campsites, etc.
Thank you.
Brian

Re: Emily Lake
Welcome to HST!
Packers use Emily and Castle Lake so they may busy, some of the Trinity Lakes can offer more solitude, Lois Lake even more and is quite pretty too.
Please write up a TR for us when you get back.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.
