Can anyone give me a specific motel, lodge for around $130 where my wife and I can stay outside of Yosemite NP and take public transportation (bus) directly from the accommodation into Yosemite Valley to do a backpack? (Something about an hour away.)
, We will leave our car at the motel/lodge.
Thanks,
Trekkerman

Hi Trekkerman,

Here is the YARTS schedule from last year, it will give you the towns it services outside the park, for example
El Portal, Mariposa, and MidPines. http://www.yarts.com/schedules.html

Use Tripadvisor to get prices and reviews of lodging in the towns serviced by YARTS, for example

Then look at the column to the right on the same page with other rated/reviewed lodgings in the vicinity, lots of options.

Why not leave the car at the end of your hike and take transportation within the park to the starting point?

Opens up options to include free regional shuttles, the hiker bus and tour bus that go back and forth on Tioga and Glacier Point Roads, and YARTS for less (the amount you pay depends on the distance you travel on the bus).

As long as you are leaving a clean car without food or smellables in it (there are bear proof lockers to store those in) it will be fine. And you will have a car at your beck and call if for some reason you come out of the backcountry late in the day when the buses and shuttles aren't running any longer, therefore not needing to walk roads and deal with overnight accommodations that are all booked full.
