Heading to Big Pine Creek region due east of Creek Fire at the end of next week. Anybody have eyes on this area regarding smoke? Hoping it's not affected as this is my third option after the Castle fire cancelled my Kern trip, Shotgun fire cancelled my Silver lake trip... Basically anywhere I want to go is on fire!
Thanks,
Earthworm Jim

Yet
another post Labour Day entry point and destination trashed by fires... I know that area where it's burning as have passed through a number of times when heading to Edison, Wishon, or Courtright.
Vast amount of dead trees c/o extended droughts. My thoughts have always been: "If a fire gets going in this lot it will make Hell look tame!"

Secondhand I know, but...I asked the ranger who issued my permit for Pear Lake (9/11-9/13) about the smoke. He said it was pretty bad at Lodgepole right now. Raining ash etc...

Man, I had a permit/trip planned out of Courtwright starting on Friday to Red Mountain, Goddard, Blackcap, and Bench, but I cancelled due to general smoky conditions and chances of a fire. Turns out it was a great call but I hope the area doesn't get too ravaged as I would like to actually do the trip before it all burns.
