On a cold morning in the Sierra Nevada, I know how cranky I am until I get the first cup of hot beverage, Carnation Breakfast Essentials along with a packet of instant coffee in it. I guess dogs aren't much into coffee or tea.

wifey sat her coffee cup down one morning within tongue reach. Simba went at it much to her chagrin.

I have gone to a meal replacement powder for breakfast.. I use the Huel black label brand.. it’s 400 calories per serving.. I like the vanilla flavor. I bring a wide mouth Gatorade bottle to mix it in as it’s easier to dump the scoops in and mix with cold water and shake. Clean up is easy as I mix a scoop of instant coffee in the bottle after and then fill the bottle with water for hiking for the day.. saves time, can be consumed on the go..

So, tell me again. I guess this is a powder to be added to a hot breakfast or cold milk. I guess it is supposed to have the protein of peanut butter, but without the fat. Some people would argue that they want the fat calories, but not everybody feels that way.
I mostly just add it to my instant oatmeal but I have a friend that puts it in all kinds stuff. I would prefer to have the extra calories from the oil but I don't like to carry a 1.5oz package per day just for my oatmeal. I can carry one 2oz Ziploc of the powdered variety that will last most of the week.
BTW it is very easy to make this powder. What I do is to roast raw shelled peanuts, freeze them for a day and then a rapid blitz in a food processor does it. I use it mostly to add some fat and as a thickener to Thai meals.

It is also equally easy to dehydrate Greek yogurt, and I have a few spoonfuls for breakfast to keep my microbiota happy.
