Is anyone thinking about the current shut down of the permit system in Yosemite?
Current shutdown of the permit system? Did I miss something?

WD was referring to the current "administration" suspending the process for reserving entry slots into YNP during peak usage periods. They state that the process (along with its underlying regulation) is "under review".
... the Wilderness Permit process itself has not yet been affected.

Reserved my permit for the Mammoth Trail for August 23rd this morning. What a pain listing all of your intended camping locations. Took forever. At least this chore is done for my trip.

There is an option to just put "unknown" or "other" in every location field so you don't have to specify where you are camping each night.

I left the days that I plan to be at Tuolumne Meadows blank. I'll try the unknown or other on my next permit.

With wilderness rangers being replaced with Tesla robots, I doubt your permit deets will be scrutinized.

True. Who is going to check?
OTOH, you may not even be able to get to a NF trailhead. The roads will be unmaintained. Washouts will not be fixed and blowdown not removed.

Maybe the robot factory is busy working on a new breed of rangers.

In Sierra Nat Forest very few permits were reserved in August. Same in SEKI. Except for Woods, Bubbs & HST very few permits were reserved. Even in Yosemite lots of permits are still available. I wonder if that will change as we get closer to July and August. Except for the JMT it might not be crowded this summer in the Sierras.
