A late afternoon shot the day after. We laid over while most (except for Gazelle) left that morning.

Re: Maverick's 2017 Annual HST Meet-up
I can't take pictures and fish at the same time, but here's the rundown. Bench lake is a good fishery. I averaged 12", well proportioned fish. Maybe one every 5 or so casts. Rainbow were most consisted in number and size, 12". Golden, I caught only 3 or 4 average 11". A small brookie here and there, under 10". One German Brown roughly 11". I didn't fight the brown very long and unhooked it from the jaw with no damage or visible blood. Funny thing is, it went belly up. I casted over it and finessed it back to shore, purged it and ran it through the water a few times to get water flowing across its gills, then cradled it upright. The gill plates were moving, so I just waited until it woke up and burst out of my hands. Successful resuscitation effort.
On our layover, Gazelle mentioned that fish would go great with her meal, so I offered to catch one for her. She said she could only eat half a fish. I told her I didn't know how to catch half a fish, so I'll go for a smaller fish. I had to throw back several foot longs and was getting annoyed. I'd never complained before that the fish I kept catching were too big. A first for everything, I guess. I finally caught a 10" golden, cleaned it up and threw it in the frying pan with a little olive oil. I peeled the meat away from the bone and handed her the pan. She started looking for a spoon. I told her I caught, cleaned, cooked and peeled the fish, if I have to provide a spoon, I'm eating it for her too!

Great shot of us Jim! We had a fantastic time with you all! I just posted what we ended up doing on the rest of our section. We'll be heading back out there tomorrow into Miter Basin.
Never put off a backpacking trip for tomorrow, if you can do it today...
