B2,

Wrote a notice for folks to hold up on downloading the form (yesterday) until maybe
monday till updates can be completed, but will let Jeremy (web designer) know
about this issus. Thank you for voicing your issues instead of getting frustrated and just
giving up on it. Will post an update when we find out what is causing this anomaly. Mav

Hi BSquared,

In terms of saving the info, this is the answer received from Jeremy:
The browser will store a set of information for each unique URL or file name.
So, if you save copies of the form under different names, each will store a
different set of profile data. If you only access it online (or from a single saved
copy), only one set of profile info will be stored. I don't believe there's a
difference with either Windows/Mac , but will test for sure.

In regards to disappearing data:
The fix for the "disappearing info" will be to find a way of ensuring all the
form data is saved when someone saves the form; this hopefully will give
the expected behavior. (It seemed to work for the profile photos when
I tried it.)

Form updates have now been completed. Map uploads will now print in portrait mode
allowing it to print in full size. Equipment and Sole photo's will both print on its own
sheet of paper together thereby allowing both prints to be larger.

A "Compass" check box had been added. More importantly a "Contingency Plan &
Routes"
text box has been added with an additional info script. There is one more
update/change in the works.
Have contacted several NPS/NFS people to get feedback and support. Some National
Parks are already considering using it for their backcountry rangers when out on patrol
and their wilderness permit offices. Hopefully after Thanksgiving I will have better
luck contacting many of these park/forest administrators and SAR folks. Are goal is
to have many more National Parks, Forests, and State Parks added to the list that
will have the form implimented in either their wilderness offices and/or backcountry
rangers by next years summer season. The big goal is to have it on the recreation.gov
site on the last page before downloading a permit

K. so who here will actually fill it out? It's really the big question isn't it? If there isn't commitment to use it, it's worthless.

Can't force anyone to use or stop using anything Russ. We have laws against
drinking and driving, texting, cell phone usage while driving, but we see it
happen on the roads all the time. Folks know the dangers of smoking after
big tabacco was required to post warning labels on their packages, and for
years we have seen anti smoking ads, but folks still smoke.
Will folks us the form? Some, only thing I can do is promote its usefulness.
Will the lack of folks getting on board discourage us, nope! Our belief in the
good that we can do with this form is a major driving force that will not be
discouraged by the lack of some positive feedback, as mentioned before, the
saving of only one life or bringing closure to only one family, will have made
the time and effort spent developing, and promoting this form well worth it!

Gobble, gobble, gobble time Russ, later.

Form has gone thru a few tweeks and additions that will make it more efficient
for not only outdoor enthusiasts but official usage.

ReConn 2.0 form

I just filled one out for my July trip the other day. Printed it to a PDF file and e-mailed it to wife in case something happens to me, and my sister in case something happens to my wife. Along with instructions and contacts for my kids in case something should happen to my wife while I'm out of reach.

I like the form. The only thing I see missing is a place for "other information". Maybe I'm blind, but I didn't see a place for that. It would have been nice to add the number and names and perhaps phone number of persons in my group or anything else I felt important for SAR to know. Just a free-form input box would do.

As it is, I added that info into the e-mails.

Hi Jim,

The "Emergency Contacts" box as other boxes, are drop downs where one can
add several lines of names, numbers, and even information/instruction if need be.

That'll work. I'll keep that in mind for the future.
