2021 Mosquito Reports

Edison Lake (VVR) area - 1
Bear Creek - 2, dusk only
E. fork Bear Creek - 2
Big Bear Lake and rest of Bear Lakes area - 1
Hilgard Branch - 0 for most, 2 in the boggier sections down closer to Bear Creek
Second night on Bear Creek: 1

I have maybe a handful of bites from that stretch along Hilgard Branch, but otherwise I saw very few and got bitten by even fewer. Flies were more of a bother than the mosquitoes.

Badger Lakes - 1
Thousand Island Lake - 0
Shadow Lake - 2 along the creek at dusk
Minaret Creek - 0
Reds Meadow - 1
Devil's Postpile - 0

Was smoky/hazy the first day, then cleared up a bit. Got smoky again near the end so we headed home rather than start another loop hike. Sad but true.

Lamarck Col > Evo Valley > Davis Lakes > Goddard Basin > Valor Pass to Blackcap Basin > Finger Col to Goddard Creek > Ionian Basin > Black Giant Pass to JMPCT > Bishop Pass

Mosquitos were barely present, maybe a handful or so a day a few times, so 0-1. Were a 2 in the North Lake parking lot when starting.

Did a few nights to test upgraded gear.

Toejam Lake - 0
Chewing Gum Lake - 0
They be gone or they don't like me. Either way is great.

8/24: Agnews Meadow to Ediza Lake: 0
8/25: Ediza Lake to TI Lake: 0. At dusk, a few mosquitos were seen but weren't trying to bite.
8/26: Spent at TI Lake: 0.
8/27: TI Lake to Agnews Meadow via High Trail: 0.

Did not use mosquito net or DEET. I am a mosquito magnet and these were ideal conditions for me. Am submitting a separate smoke report.
