I assume you want to come in from the east. Not necessary to go down into the MFKings and come up that mess of bushwhacking. You are stuck with that if you come in from the south (Cedar Grove).
You can instead come in from South Lake, go over Black Giant Pass, then down to Chasm Lake, down to Enchanted Gorge, cross, and THEN up to Tunemah Lake or Peak. I think that is a better and more scenic route anyway. Or in over Lemark Col, into Ionian Basin over ?Wanda? pass and drop to Chasm Lake. I did Chasm to Enchanted Gorge /Goddard confluence. (Arnot's book describes this route). Later season you should be able to cross then up to Tunemah Lake.
Another question is once you get up to Tunemah Lake or Peak, how are you going to get back to your starting trailhead?
