Non hiking season non-summer fitness activities?

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Re: Non hiking season non-summer fitness activities?

Now closing in on birthday #76, living decades within the San Francisco Bay Area, I have endless opportunities during late summer into fall for attending outdoor street art/food/music festivals as well as music concerts in large venues. Thus since summer this year of 2024 have enjoyed 3 large venue rock concerts and 12 outdoor art/food/music festivals all of which I spend much of the time in crowds to the amusements and model encouragement for shy others, dynamically freestyle rock dancing, that besides immense exhilarating fun, works well at maintaining a fair level of respiratory and fast motor reaction fitness.

As ski season approaches within my 2 story residence, in a few weeks will start daily climbing stairs with a 50 pound backpack. After the first snows occur, with my Epic Senior Local Tahoe Season Pass ($425) will be initially skiing single days at Heavenly, Kirkwood, and Northstar, building up strength.

In the mean time this coming weekend, yes is another huge outdoor street festival. The Campbell Chamber Oktoberfest with 3 stages with a range of music genres including Classic Rock cover bands and a large beer garten with German Oompah bands.
