This weeks monsoon storms per rainfall models have already done some real good for the droughty Le Conte Divide zone. Where I have been planning to pack into west of Recess Peak, shows a bit less than an inch. Better are Le Conte Divide areas with Red Mtn Basin ridge lines showing twice that and the ridge line Blackcap areas several inches that no doubt has swollen the NF of the Kings River and revived small streamlets and ephemeral shallow bedrock ponds. In about a week, that ought show up as significant increases in greenery and wildflower plants that have not yet bloomed or gone to seed that will put out new buds and flowers. Has me considering first a mid August leisurely week long base camping trip once the monsoon subsides into Red mountain Basin I last visited with a big group in 1981. That is also the best time of summer for sunset lake reflections at RMB because the ridge just west of Fleming Creek blocks the setting sun during earlier summer.
