S Lake to Palisade Lk & Dusy Basin 6/7-15
This was an "in-and-out" so only will describe conditions on way out. Note that mosquitoes can vary considerably depending on micro-climate, time of day, and wind. In general, it is the start of "mosquito season". I only had level 2 mosquitoes and dawn and dusk. I purposely avoided stopping or camping at places with mosquitoes (like Grouse Meadow in LeConte Canyon).
A few at Palisade Lake, but it was windy. No significant problems on trail from Palisade Lake to Dusy Basin. Dawn and dusk, few "biters" at lowest lake in Dusy Basin (Lk 10742). Basically none at Dusy Lake 11388. Again, windy conditions and cold nights.
Others reported horrible mosquitoes when they camped at Bishop Lake; I ate lunch there and no mosquitoes. Camped at Ruwau Lake right next to stagnant water, and only a few mosquitoes- little ones and a few biters. I think the worst is about to start. Lots of standing water.
