Hiking an Abandoned Trail, Kaweah River Canyon

The fires have merged. The fire on the north side of the canyon is growing faster than the one on the south. The one on the south continues to slowly move east and burn forest along the old trail we took.

It looks like the KNP Complex fire is moving east across the old trail we took 50 years ago. Back then it looked like a disaster [fire] waiting to happen. I wonder what the forest fuel load looks like now after another 50 years of fire suppression.

The fire has now burned about halfway up our route.

The fire has burned to the approximate location where we lost the trail in deadfall. It may make it all the way to Redwood Meadow.
