Daisy - Thanks for the TR and photos. Last time I was in the Yosemite Valley was 1986 or thereabouts so glad you took pics of the 'beautiful stuff' like I remember it. I expect I would get development culture shock big time if I went back now.
The fire nuked stuff is becoming too darn common in the Sierra and is a wake up call for what it may all look like in future if we have Creek Fires yearly. Uggghhhhh.

Question...Any mosquitoes out yet? No mention in your report. If so, at what elevations?
I'm trying to see if there is the possibility of a pre-bugs trip in to the southern part of Yosemite from A.A. Wilderness IF Clover Meadow and the road to there opens up in time. Fire damage is making that iffy so may have to find somewhere else...that does not have the Yosemite permit hassles you mention re spontaneous leavings.

A few mosquitoes at dusk around water at lower elevations 5,000-6,000 on the Pohono Trail.

Here is a photo I forgot to put in. It was taken from the rim of the dome of Pt. 7573. You can see the rocks that mark the trail across the slabs on the other side of the river far down in the canyon (400 feet below) that cannot be seen. The trail drops into timber and crosses the seep from the creek originating near the base of the north rib of Mt. Clark. The tent symbol by the tarn is where I camped on Day 3.

Thank you for the lovely trip report!
I totally identified when you said " I am getting older!" Boy did I feel it during my trip! I also chuckled when you said everything froze. ON my trip, nothing dried, it just froze! I got caught in that storm, not restricted by permits but by when I had to get back to work. I would have loved another day out! I agree, the new system is awful!!!
Anyway, I am glad that you had a nice trip, even though it may not have been your most successful.

Thanks for the report and photos

Why do you think "this route is MUCH better done clockwise"? I have my eye on the Pohono Trail next year when the road is closed and had thought to go counter-clockwise, but I did not put much thought into that direction.
