Hi Daisy,Wandering Daisy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 9:43 am It looks like late July, is that correct? I have usually gone early season when there was much more snow (or was last year just a dry year?). There is a wonderful campsite at the south end of Sixth Lake where you camp in nice timber, then a short walk to a rock where you see the lower lakes. Unfortunately, no fishing. I had my best fishing luck at Summit Lake. Curious if anyone has been able to go up from Seventh Lake to Thunder and Lightning Lake, not hauling a backpack, but a day-hike.
Yep, late July 2020. Two years ago my son and his friend (and two dogs) camped up at Seventh Lake and then climbed Cloudripper as a day-hike via the saddle that lies on the way to Thunder and Lightning Lake. It would be an easy enough day-hike to get down to the lake from there. Provided you camped at Sixth or Seventh Lakes. Tip: Climbing up to the saddle it's best to stay on the right side using the bigger blocks of talus, and come back down, sliding and shoe-skiing, on the tinier scree to the left.

And thanks for letting me know about that campsite on Sixth Lake. Always good to learn about a less-traveled spot.
