Such awful news, I’m at a loss for words. Never met him personally, but felt to have known him through his many contributions here. He will be missed. My condolences to his family and friends

Oh, and Russ loved his girls, and they loved going along with him. :)

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Have a safer backcountry experience by using the HST ReConn Form 2.0, named after Larry Conn, a HST member: http://reconn.org

So sorry to hear this. I hadn't met him either but enjoyed his many posts. Prayers out to his family and friends. RIP Russ.

Damn! Will Russ be missed! Never met him but shared some private messages. At least he passed doing what he loved.

That is how I feel also. He was in a beautiful place, doing what he loved, and that makes me happy. Russ always had "fun facts" for me regarding place names which I always love hearing. I will have to do my own research and pass these "fun facts" on to others myself now.
