Re: Mystery Spot
Good work longri.
Have you actually been to that basin, up to Fontananillis? I didn't really care for either that lake or Dicks Lake above but very much liked the cascading stream flowing down slabs above Upper Velma. Before that trip had calculated I would be able to frame Lake Tahoe in the background with Upper Velma at mid ground that made for a rather nice 4x5 Provia transparency. However was not able to work in a foreground of the cascades because to do so required a wider lens that reduced the impact of the lakes in the background so went to a medium tele. Although that lake basin is very popular both with day hikers and backpackers, it was easy to find areas where no others were about. The lonely bench south of Lower Velma is one such place we camped with fine views.

Re: Mystery Spot
No, I've never been there. I've only visited the Tahoe area in the winter and never that particular basin. But I recognized that big lake and it didn't take long to fly my browser to the right vantage point. Beautiful shot, by the way.
Using the internet is cheating, kind of.
So here's an easy one:

Versteeg Lake or Lake 11595, which ever one one wants to call it.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Re: Mystery Spot
Hmmm. This is hit a snag, since Mav doesn't want to post a photo. I'll get it started again....maybe...with this one:
