I get the same. Does anyone know what happened with this site?

I use Expert GPS and Caltopo. I like them both. I tend to do a lot of drawing of tracks and marking waypoints while trip planning. Once I am ready to head out I upload the tracks and waypoints to my GPS and print out paper maps with the waypoints and tracks on them to carry along with the GPS.

I seem to be one of the few holdouts. I still use TOPO! software. It is a bit long in the tooth, but it works. I think that I purchased it in 1999.

I have been a consistent GaiaGPS user and I think that it still works best when navigating in the field.
Caltopo has been my route planning/map generator for many years.
Caltopo has massively morphed and is trying to do many interesting things, including collaborative sharing important for SARS and becoming a navigation app.
Caltopo also now has better file organization.
However in the filed for navigation, even with the newest software, I find Caltopo not performing well with large downloaded maps, and even with smaller vector maps, so I still find Gaia better. But this could change in a month.
