Re: SIERRA INSPIRATION PHOTOTHON!
Island in the Sky...North Dome last Saturday mid morning from Leidig Meadow in Yosemite Valley after the snow. Taken with my new Sony A6000 + SEL55210 lens. 6000 x 4000 pixels, downsized 6:1 for web viewing.
larroyo33, your pic of Liberty Cap and Nevada Fall is timely for this person as I tentatively plan to drive back to the valley after work Friday for this coming weekend too. And am thinking of night hiking up from Happy Isles at 4:30 am so I can snag an image of the Cap a bit after astronomical sunrise from illuminated sunrise skylight though a bit back down the trail from your pic. Likely will wait till sun is just about to start hitting the top of that landscape. I've shot color film there in the afternoon and the fall is too bright and harsh unless clouds can mute the direct sun just in the fall area that is a rather unlikely gamble. A skylight image will be more easily all within sensor range.
Last weekend the dogwood were moving towards peak so am likely to work some on the west side of the river on the way down in the Illoutte drainage few ever bother with.

Went up Sunday to Glacier Point to check out the area. Was able to capture this during sunset:

Wow, it's been a while since I've posted here. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute a bit more in the future. For now, I really wanted to share some images I took last summer that I plan on printing soon. Enjoy.

Re: SIERRA INSPIRATION PHOTOTHON!
Was in Yosemite last night to see the meteor shower. Literally saw TWO shooting stars during the entire time I was there.....Needless to say I was disappointed, hope someone else saw some. I did attempt to capture the Milky Way.
I was pushing it with my 24-105mm, being it's an F/4, but bumping up the ISO to 2500 seemed to help a lot. Really need to get a low-light lense.
