vandman- I did not take a camera when I did an 8-day hike of the entire Lost Coast and I regret that every time I see Lost Coast photos! Thanks for sharing!

WD, I love the Lost Coast. Haven't been back since the '80's, so I have not hiked the trail. Back then I walked cross-country and on logging roads, which were still in use. On my first visit in 1976, I explored a huge redwood grove that over looked the Pacific, north of the Usal River, when I came back 6 months later, it had been logged! I became a conservationist and environmentalist on that day.

These redwoods are beside the road between the headquarters and the campground at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park.

Look at the rack on this guy! It's not a great photo, but the best I could get because after I snapped the shutter, he stood up, let out a steaming stream of urine and came after me. I didn't realize that it was rutting season. A mistake I learned from.
